How can post-secondary institutions minimize the number of students subject to unenrollment from courses due to non-payment while minimizing negative impact on accounts receivable? This session explores Community College of Philadelphia’s effort to answer this question. The session will consider findings from a pilot effort made possible by federal emergency relief funds to determine which students were most likely to pay off their balances if given time to pay during the semester and the impact that this would have on retention and graduation.

Participants in this session will collaborate with other attendees and use data presented during the session to consider how they can implement or enhance similar programs at their respective institutions.

Learning Objectives

  1. Identify key determinants of a student's likelihood to pay for courses after the start of an academic term.
  2. Articulate to senior leadership at their institution the positive impact of narrowing the scope of students subject to being unenrolled from courses for non-payment.
  3. Define action steps around developing a pilot program that minimizes the number of students subject to being unenrolled from courses for non-payment.
