Cybersecurity Governance and Risk Management Strategies for Higher Ed Institutions

Modern Cybersecurity risks and threats continue to evolve as the pace of technology change accelerates right under our feet. Managing and mitigating the risks requires well defined strategies and standards aligned with operational and compliance frameworks. Operations standards need to be aligned with business needs in a manner that is managed and communicated through appropriate governance channels.

This session will explore common issues in design, configuration and IT operational processes and how well thought out governance processes and improve and enhance technology and cybersecurity risk management and mitigation. Learning activities will include collaborative exercises in a round table discussion format.

  1. Describe common IT and cybersecurity issues that result from immature standards management.
  2. Identify operation and compliance frameworks and standards that improve mitigation strategies.
  3. Explain the overlap between IT and cybersecurity operations and governance.
