Building Better Collaboration Across Divisions Through Interdisciplinary Planning & Budgeting PracticesMarcus Richardson - CUNY Brooklyn College After CUNY Brooklyn College experienced a 20% drop in enrollment, the need to work collaboratively to determine resource priorities became even more essential for long-term sustainability. While the institution has always maintained an inclusive approach to planning and budgeting processes, exploring and adopting improved ways of working is now even more essential. This session will share approaches that can be leveraged to bring together and work more effectively with people across different areas of expertise and responsibility. While this is a work-in-progress for Brooklyn College, they have been exploring ways of working, a model of practice, and free tools and resources that they helped to design, and that were subsequently released through a grant project championed by NACUBO. Attendees will be provided access to a website that links to practical resources and ideas that can be modified and applied at any institution to improve cross-departmental collaboration, regardless of size or profile of students served. Session participants will hear first-hand from the college’s Executive Director of Strategic Initiatives about his work, and approaches to improving outcomes and supporting priorities, as well as the challenges and opportunities that emerge through the work. NACUBO will share information about a free Collaboration Toolkit that is has developed as the result of working with Brooklyn College, and other institutions over the past several years.
