Liz Murphy

CEO & Chairman of the Board, CampusWorks

As an eager young student at the University of Scranton, Liz learned that no question is insignificant and that always asking “why” expands not only knowledge but also the impact one can have on the world. This curiosity, combined with a deep belief in courage: the courage to face uncertainty, uphold our values, and lead with empathy and integrity, has shaped her career and her commitment to empowering others. Her passion for higher education is fueled by the transformative effect it has had on her own life—like so many of us—and by the desire to ensure everyone has the tools, environment, and support they need to reach their full potential. Over three decades, her work has touched countless lives and inspired others to lead with boldness and compassion.

Liz joined CampusWorks as CEO in 2011, after 22 years at Datatel (now Ellucian), and immediately embraced a larger vision for how the company could support colleges and universities in their mission to change lives through education. She believes that at the heart of higher education’s evolution lies courageous leadership— bold, ethical actions that challenge the status quo to foster innovation, equity, and student success. A willingness to face complex challenges head-on and make bold, thoughtful decisions—is essential to shaping the future of higher education. Under Liz’s leadership, the CampusWorks team has grown from a few dozen employees to several hundred innovative thinkers and leaders who tackle the toughest challenges with creativity and resolve.

Liz leads by example. Calm, determined, and always intentional, she builds meaningful and lasting relationships that drive client and organizational success. Her belief in the power of courageous leadership is reflected in her team—people who work tirelessly to serve clients, tackle the impossible, and lift those around them. Her vision and leadership continue to inspire others to face challenges with courage and to create lasting, positive change in the world of higher education.
