Dr. Charles Hammond continues to exhibit meticulous and diverse leadership that reflects his extensive journey leading to and through his current tenure at Goldey-Beacom College. His comprehensive academic background includes a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Administration from St. Joseph’s University, a Master of Education in Kinesiology from Temple University, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Jefferson University (formerly Philadelphia University).

Dr. Hammond's tenure at Goldey-Beacom College is marked by significant achievements and a commitment to student success and institutional excellence. As the Athletic Director and Chief Athletic Officer, he was responsible for developing, managing, coordinating, and supervising a competitive NCAA Division II intercollegiate athletics program comprising fourteen varsity sports, over forty coaches, and more than 240 student-athletes.

His expertise extends beyond athletics. Dr. Hammond has also contributed to the college in various capacities, including serving as the Vice President for Student Affairs and Athletics (VPSAA). In this role, he acted as the Chief Student Affairs Officer, providing institutional leadership for a variety of student development services and programs. Additionally, as the Dean of Students, he served as an advocate for students, promoting their success, retention, and graduation.

Currently, Dr. Hammond serves as the Vice President for Operations and Planning (VPOP) at Goldey-Beacom College. In this capacity, he functions as the Chief Operations Officer, overseeing institution-wide strategic and facility master planning. His innovative and inquisitive leadership style, combined with a notable background in the post-secondary system, allows him to actively contribute to the college’s mission, goals, and vision. Dr. Hammond excels in fostering sound communication and collaborative efforts within a multicultural, multigenerational, and multidisciplinary environment.

Beyond his contributions to Goldey-Beacom College, Dr. Hammond has been appointed to several prestigious positions, such as:

  • Senior Advisory Group for Engagement for the Executive Board of Transform America, formerly Campus Compact Mid-Atlantic (2016-present).
  • Chair of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Direct Reports Council (2016-present).
  • Member of the Boys and Girls Club of Delaware Unit Board of Governors (2019-present).
  • Panelist at the 2022 NCAA Annual Convention on “The Future of NCAA Division II Athletics” (2022).

Furthermore, he led a team of academic and professional stakeholders in facilitating a $35 million campus expansion project from 2017 to 2021 transforming the student experience outside of the classroom.
