Andrew HarrisAdministrative Coordinator Andrew is an accomplished administrative professional with extensive experience in financial and operational support within academic and research settings. Previously, he served as a Financial Administrative Assistant in the Cancer Biology Department at the School of Medicine, where he worked under the direction of Financial Director Jim Riley. In this role, Andrew was pivotal as the main on-campus support contact for the Aegis Monitoring System, which is critical for managing research freezers. He provided essential support to numerous research labs, including the 2023 Nobel Prize winning Weissman lab. Andrew also co-created and managed the Career and College Readiness @ Penn Medicine summer internship program. This initiative was designed for rising seniors and recent graduates from Philadelphia area high schools, providing them with valuable exposure to the myriad of professions and life paths that help make UPenn's campus thrive. Currently, Andrew works as an Administrative Coordinator within the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at the School of Arts and Sciences. Under the leadership of Associate Vice Dean Dr. Vanessa Gonzalez-Perez, he supports graduate and postdoctoral recruitment and retention efforts. Andrew also collaborates with Dr. Julee Farley on the Science Outreach Initiative, which organizes campus visits for K-12 students and manages the Penn LENS (Laboratory Experiences in Natural Sciences) Program. This program specifically targets rising juniors and seniors with an interest in STEM fields. In addition to his administrative skills, Andrew is a certified Notary Public, and is currently pursuing a Data Analytics and Social Sciences degree via Penn LPS. |
