Amanda CoonTax Senior Manager I am a tax senior manager with Plante Moran, PLLC and have spent over 9 years working with tax exempt organizations to complete their federal, state, local and other required annual filings. I spend a significant portion of my time educating organizations on issues ranging from a transparency around governance & independence issues to having a productive discussion with the IRS. I specialize in the firm’s tax-exempt organization practice, with a focus on higher education institutions and healthcare systems. I am well versed in specific investment issues like the assessment of depletion, analysis and reporting of Form 8986 and debt financed income. I have presented regularly on IRC section §513 (unrelated business income) and Section §514 (unrelated debt finance income), and Section §4960 (excise tax on excess compensation). While I am proficient at investment issues, my real superpowers are my ability to problem solve and project manage. I am the one to call when things are going wrong, and you need someone to effectively find a solution and help you get it implemented. I hold a B.B.A. and an M.S.A. in accounting from the University of Michigan. |
